Christmas Day murder suspect arrested


Michael James Kirkland charged in the death of Jaime Lyn Larson

by: MULTNOMAH COUNTY SHERIFF'S OFFICE - Michael James KirklandA suspect has been arrested in the Christmas Day murder of Jaime Lyn Larson.

Michael James Kirkland, 37, was arrested Thursday and charged with aggravated murder. He is being held in the Multnomah County Jail.

The body of the 33-year-old woman was found in her apartment near Portland State University on Dec. 25.

According to the Portland Police Bureau, homicide detectives worked with the Forensic Evidence Division and the Oregon State Police Crime Lab to gather forensic evidence from the crime scene. Some of the evidence assisted in identifying Kirkland as the suspect.

Once Kirkland was identified, homicide detectives contacted the U.S. Marshals Oregon Fugitive Task Force to locate and arrest him and transport him to the Detective Division. U.S. Marshals Kirkland at his residence at 1212 Southwest Clay Street on Jan. 3.Detectives would still like to hear from anyone who has information about Larson's murder and/or any information about Michael James Kirkland.
