San Diego homicide suspect arrested in Portland
A San Diego homicide suspect has been arrested on a fugitive warrant in Portland.
Michael Tschida, 32, was arrested around 5 p.m. on Saturday, Jan. 5, at the Portland Veterans Administration Medical Center. The Lemon Grove, Calif., resident was arrested by the Portland Police Bureau at the request of the Clackamas County Sheriff's Office, which is assisting the San Diego County Sheriff's Office.
Tschida was lodged at the Clackamas County Jail on a homicide charge. There is no bail. He is on suicide watch, which is a standard procedure at the Clackamas County Jail when a person is lodged on Measure 11 equivalent charges.
The Clackamas County Sheriff's Office provided assistance to the San Diego County Sheriff's Office by serving search warrants on Tschida's vehicle and the home of his parents, both of which were located at 11848 SE Southern Lites Drive, Happy Valley.
The results of the search warrants are not available for release because this is an open investigation.
