Water pipe break shuts service to NE neighborhoods
A broken water main could force the city to shut off water to a handful of homes in Northeast Portland.
Portland Water Bureau crews responded Tuesday morning to the break of an 8-inch water main pipe near Northeast 22nd Avenue and Highland Street. The pipe will be repaired as soon as water is shut off in the area.
Crews will be able to redirect water to keep much of the area with water service, but some properties on Northeast Rosa Parks Way, Holman, Highland and Liberty streets could be temporarily out of water or have low water pressure during the repair work.
Several nearby customers have complained that their water is dirty because of the broken pipe.
Streets around the broken main will be temporarily shut down during repairs.
