GOP targets two Oregon House seats

Two Democrat-held U.S. House seats in Oregon are on a list of 45 districts targeted by the National Republican Congressional Committee for the 2014 elections.

The NRCC, in a list released Wednesday, included Oregon's 4th Congressional District, represented by Rep. Peter DeFazio, D-Springfield, and the 5th Congressional District, represented by Kurt Schrader, D-Canby, among 45 seats it hopes to wrest from Democrats in next year’s elections.

That suggests the Republican campaign committee will continue to put political pressure on both incumbents, and seek to find viable challengers with ample campaign funding.

Republicans have a lock on the Eastern Oregon seat held by Greg Walden, R-Hood River, but Democrats hold Oregon’s four other House seats and have for several terms.
