Letter carrier hurt when truck smashes into LO Post Office
A Lake Oswego mail carrier was slightly injured Monday morning when a small pickup smashed through the wall of the Lake Oswego Post Office on Fourth Avenue and B Street.
Lake Oswego firefighters said the mail carrier was taken to a local hospital to be checked after she was struck by a falling metal sorting table. The mail carrier, whose name was not released, did not appear to have serious injuries, fire department officials said.
The accident happened shortly before 10 a.m. when a pickup driven by a man in his 50s was pulling into a parking space next to the building when the truck jumped the sidewalk and slammed through the glass and metal structure.
The driver, whose name was not released, was not injured.
Fire department officials said the damage to the metal-framed front section did not compromise the structure. The postmaster called a construction company to board up the hole in the building.
Firefighters were able to clear the accident scene in about 20 minutes.
