A flash mob struck the Macy’s at Lloyd Center Thursday evening, hauling off more than a dozen pair of Levi’s jeans worth about $1,000.

Portland police are looking for a silver sport utility vehicle with Texas license plates that picked up the flash mob of five or six African American men and women after the theft. The SUV drove west on Northeast Broadway.

Police said the group went into the Macy’s store at about 7:15 p.m., grabbed the jeans and ran into the main mall, leaving the building near the east end of the shopping center.

It was one of several flash mobs that have struck Portland-area stores and businesses in the past few months. In most cases, the mobs grab items and flee.
