Early morning shooting leaves wounded man by side of SE 85th Avenue
Portland police are investigating a shooting early Tuesday morning that left a seriously wounded man lying on the side of Southeast 85th Avenue.
Police said the man, whose name was not released, suffered traumatic injuries in the shooting, but the wound was not life threatening.
Officers from the East Precinct were called at about 2:12 a.m. to the corner of Southeast 85th Avenue and Powell Boulevard where they found a man lying by the road. At first officers thought the man had been the victim of a hit-and-run accident. When the man was taken to a nearby hospital for treatment, the bullet wound was discovered.
Police said a truck driver told officers he saw the man on the side of the road and stopped to help.
