Woman dies in single car accident

A woman has died from injuries sustained in a single car accident in Southeast Portland Saturday evening.

Police identified her as Marissa Ann Conklin, 20, of Southeast Portland.

Police are looking for the driver of the car , who fled the scene of the accident.

According to police, at 8:43 p.m. on Feb. 16, East Precinct officers responded to the 11100 block of Southeast Market Street on the report of a single car crash into a tree.

When the officers and medical personnel arrived, they found a woman was ejected from the vehicle. She was transported to a Portland hospital with traumatic injuries.

Two other people that were in the car remained at the scene and did not require medical attention. They are identified as Eric Manuel Tarasov, 18, and Davontay Mosley, 17.

Police say a fourth subject was in the vehicle but fled the scene before officers arrived. It is not known if he had any role in the crash.

The Traffic Division's Major Crash Team responded to conduct an investigation. They learned that the vehicle, a silver 2000 Volvo C70 convertible, was traveling westbound on Southeast Market Street and failed to negotiate a slight left turn then right chicane in the roadway. The vehicle struck one tree with the right front fender and then snapped a second tree off with the left front side of the vehicle.

onklin was ejected from the vehicle and came to rest approximately 70 feet away from the snapped-off tree. The vehicles engine separated from the vehicle and came to rest on the sidewalk.

Southeast Market Street from 109th to 112th/Cherry Blossom Drive was closed in both directions for much of the evening.
