According to police, at 8:44 p.m. on Feb. 23, officers responded to report of shots fired in the area of North Portsmouth Avenue and Lombard Street. When the officers arrived in the area, they contacted the clerk of a nearby convenience store, the Lucky Mart located at 5287 North Lombard Street.
The clerk told police that earlier in the evening, he had a confrontation with a young African-American woman who had previously shoplifted from the store. The clerk told police that when he confronted her, she began throwing things around the store, knocking down a TV, which landed on his infant son. The boy was not injured and the woman left the store.
The clerk told police that a young African-American male then showed up at the store and claimed the girl was his sister. The clerk said he and he man got into a physical confrontation.
According to the clerk, the man then ran out of the store, fired several shots into the air in the area of North Lombard Street and Glouchester Avenue, and continued running.
