Council wants to hear about budget priorities
Want to lobby the Portland City Council to save your favorite program on the budget chopping block? Or do you want to make a pitch for new city spending?
City commissioners want to hear Portland residents priorities at a public hearing on the 2013-14 city budget, on Tuesday, March 12, from 6:30 to 8:30 p.m. The hearing takes place at George Middle School, 10000 N. Burr Ave.
Mayor Charlie Hales is not ready to release his proposed budget, but says hell need to make $25 million in reductions in the roughly $500 million general fund budget. That means some cherished programs may be threatened.
At least four of the five city commissioners, all but Steve Novick, are expected to be present for the hearing.
