Christopher Charles Jones, 19, was charged with assault in the fourth degree. The other man, Tonari Leeivory Harris, 24, was not involved in the assault but had three outstanding arrest warrants.

According to police, at 1:40 p.m. on March 10, North Precinct officers responded to the Jantzen Beach shopping center on the report of an assault to a TriMet driver. After the officers arrived, they contacted the driver, who said that a man punched him in the face then left the area.

The driver told police that the suspect and another man got on the bus earlier with a dog. The driver told police that initially he told them that they could not bring the dog on the bus, but after they claimed it was a service animal, he allowed them to ride.

When the men got off the bus, one of them punched the driver in the face. The driver did not need medical treatment.

Officers checking the area located two men that matched the description given by the TriMet driver.

Both men were booked into the Multnomah County Jail. The dog was given to a family member.
