City don't cry: Robert Plant will close four-day blues fest
Zeppeliner Robert Plant will help the Rose City pop a tall cool one this summer when he joins the closing night of the 26th annual Safeway Waterfront Blues Festival in July.
Plant and the Sensational Space Shifters will join a jam-packed bill to close the four-day event July 7. Also scheduled to appear on closing night are Mavis Staples, Taj Mahal and Robert Randolph & the Family Band.
The blues festival the annual major fundraiser for the Oregon Food Bank is from July 4 to 7 at Tom McCall Waterfront Park. It features 150 artists performing on four stages.
Were especially proud today to announce the festivals stellar featured artists for 2013, said Laura Golino de Lovato, the food banks director of development. This years tour de force comes July 7, which weve dubbed Sensational Sunday. Its the biggest thing weve ever done with this event.
Because of space limitations in the festival area, organizers said a festival pass would be required for Sensational Sunday.
