Crime Stoppers is offering a $1,000 reward for information leading to the thief's arrest.Portland’s Crime Stoppers is offering a $1,000 reward for information leading to the arrest of a thief who has stolen purses and personal items from at least two local hospitals.

Police said the thief struck at about noon Tuesday, May 14, at the Shriners Hospital. He walked into a volunteer break room at the hospital and stole a woman’s purse that had an undisclosed amount of cash, ID, credit cards and an iPad.

When the victim realized her purse was missing, she alerted hospital security staff, who found pictures of the suspect on surveillance video.

During the same afternoon, the same thief apparently struck at Oregon Health & Science University, stealing a backpack from an OHSU employee’s office.

The suspect is described as a tubby, balding white man in his 50s, about 5-foot-8, weighing 190 pounds, with spray tan or olive-colored skin, a shaved or bald head and wearing a dark-colored T-shirt and jeans.
