A 59-year-old postal worker biking home from work is in critical condition after a pick-up truck hit him and took off late Saturday night.

Michael Cooley was hit and thrown about 30 feet near the intersection of North greely and Interstate Avenue around 12:30 a.m. Sunday. Witnesses to the crash stopped and helped Cooley until emergency responders arrived.

“I’m really angry,” his wife, Lori Cooley, told KOIN 6 News. “I’m very angry someone could hit him and leave him for dead. When the fire department got there he didn’t have a heart rate or wasn’t breathing and he was unconscious.”

Cooley biked to and from work for 15 years.

“With all that reflective gear and those lights, there’s now way you could have missed him,” she said. “No way, unless you were asleep.”

She’s concerned about having enough insurance to cover all the medical bills.

She also said she can find forgiveness for the person responsible — if they have the integrity to come forward and turn themselves in.

Traffic investigators are seeking the public's help with information about this crash.
