Gang Enforcement Team detectives have arrested a suspect in

a June gang shooting.

Rasool Islam, 19, was arrested on June 14. He is charged with attempted murder, assault in the second degree, unlawful use of a weapon and felon in possession of a firearm.

Islam is accused of shooting and injuring Amel Johnson, 19, on June 13 in the area of 148th Avenue and East Burnside.

Police say that Islam and Johnson are both known gang associates. Gang Enforcement Team detectives developed probable cause to arrest Islam for the shooting and began to conduct surveillance at his suspected residence in the 5300 block of Southeast 136th Avenue.
