An early Sunday morning fire heavily damaged a Sellwood house.
No one was injured in the blaze.
According to Portland Fire & Rescue, at 2:10 a.m. on July 7, a crews from Station 20 in the Sellwood/Moreland area responded to a residential fire at 3776 SE 8th Ave. When firefighters arrived, they found a heavy amount of fire on the first floor of the house.
Due to the amount of fire, crews were forced to extinguish much of the flames from outside the house before they could transition to attacking the fire from the inside.
Once crews entered the structure, they discovered the fire had extended to the basement and second floor. They extinguished the fire while simultaneously searching all floors for possible occupants.
The fire was brought under control at 2:43 a..m and crews remain on scene mopping up. An investigation is underway to determine the fire cause and damage estimates.
