Tanker spill cleanup keeps NW Cornelius Pass Road closed

Northwest Cornelius Pass Road remained closed Thursday morning, July 11, after a tanker truck carrying liquid fertilizer rolled and spilled the chemical.

Multnomah County officials said the accident at about 11:40 a.m. Wednesday, July 10, closed the road between Highway 30 and Northwest Skyline Boulevard after the tanker spilled about 2,150 gallons of the fertilizer. Officials said the public is not in danger because of the chemical spill.

The truck driver, whose name has not been released, was slightly injured in the crash.

The chemical spill was contained and a private hazardous material company started to clean up the spill Wednesday.

County officials say the road could be closed until Thursday afternoon.
