About 18 firefighting units from Molalla, Clackamas County, Canby and surrounding towns are fighting a barn fire at 13050 S Molalla Forest Road, Friday afternoon.
The barn was engulfed in flames at about 5 p.m. July 12. Flames and black smoke from the fire could be seen for miles. A nearby house is also involved, and firefighters were directing water hoses on the roof. Witnesses report that propane tanks exploded.
The two-alarm fire broke out at Molalla Redi Mix & Rock Products at about 5 p.m. Part of the Redi Mix facility is destroyed. A mechanic's shop is also reported to be destroyed. The fire was first reported at 5:04 p.m. Traffic is stopped on Molalla Forest Road. Traffic is slow on Highway 211 going west.
Local firefighters are also fighting a second barn fire at 39033 S.E. Porter Road between Molalla and Estacada. The Porter Road barn fire started about one hour before the Molalla fire. It appears that about eight units are still working on that blaze.
Firefighters are also responding to an electrical fire in Molalla, not far from the barn fire.
