Two men remain hospitalized after a single-car accident on Northwest Germantown Road on Tuesday.
The driver of the vehicle, Tyson Everet Jacob Wright, 19, of Portland is in critical condition. The passenger, Travis Timothy Smallwood, 20 of Portland, is in serious condition.
The East County Vehicular Crimes Team is continuing their investigation of the accident.
According to the Multnomah County Sheriff's Office, at 1:05 p.m. on July 16, Washington County Sheriff's Office deputies and Tualatin Valley Fire and Rescue responded to the report of a single vehicle crash in the 13400 block of Northwest Germantown Road. Arriving TVF&R units extricated two adult male occupants from a Volkswagen Cabrio that had lost control and struck a power pole on the side of the road.
Lifeflight was activated and responded to the area but the potential landing zone was determined to be too hazardous. Both occupants were transported by ambulance to the hospital with life-threatening injuries.
The East County Vehicular Crimes team consists of Deputies from the Multnomah County Sheriff's Office along with officers from the Gresham, Troutdale and Fairview police departments. The preliminary investigation indicates the Volkswagen Cabrio was traveling westbound on the road when it crossed over the eastbound lane of traffic and off the side of the road, striking a power pole alongside the road. Initial indications are speed was a contributing factor in the crash.
