Man charged with assault in Monday night stabbing

The victim, 19-year-old Drew Christopher Stokes of Tigard, was treated for several non-life-threatening stab wounds at a Portland hospital.

Detectives said the two men did not know each other.

Portland police took Johnson into custody after the fight on the platform of the underground rail station near the Oregon Zoo.

According to police, shortly after 11 p.m. Monday, Aug. 12, Central Precinct officers responded to a call of a fight on TriMet’s MAX train at the Washington Park Station. Police arrived and found the stabbing victim and took a suspect into custody.

Police have not determined what started the confrontation.
