Crash shuts down I-5 Tuesday morning
Semitrailer and trailer carrying boat collide
The rare instance of a boat colliding with semitrailer shut down southbound Interstate 5 in Wilsonville for more than two hours Tuesday morning.
On Sept. 10, at about 9:45 a.m., a Chevrolet Suburban pulling a trailer loaded with a boat was traveling southbound in the left lane of I-5 near milepost 282 and was passing a commercial semitrailer that was in the lane to its right. For an unknown reason, the vehicle with the boat trailer and the semi collided. When the vehicles came to a stop, they were blocking the freeway and a diesel spill was reported from the commercial truck, according to Oregon State Police.
The truck's driver was transported by ambulance to Legacy Meridian Park Medical Center for treatment of nonlife-threatening injuries. No names have been released. One lane was reopened for traffic at approximately 10:40 a.m. All lanes were open by noon. OSP troopers from the Portland and Salem offices were assisted by the Oregon Department of Transportation and Tualatin Valley Fire & Rescue.
