Tribune celebrates 11 years of filling a local niche

Anyone around town on Feb. 9, 2001, might remember The Portland Tribune's first publication.

From our first office downtown at 620 S.W. Fifth Avenue, the paper's army of staffers - backed by owner Dr. Robert B. Pamplin Jr. - set out to fill a niche in local news.

Several awards, 11 years, an economic recession and one office move later - to Pamplin Media Group headquarters in outer Southeast Portland - the Trib is still going strong.

Five original staff members remain on the editorial staff: Steve Brandon, Kerry Eggers, Jason Vondersmith, Jim Redden and Jennifer Anderson.

We're still in those green boxes around town, and still free.

So take a paper on us. As our friendly front-desk receptionist used to say: 'Happy Paper Day!'
