One person was shot to death Monday in an incident that prompted the lockdown of two schools in the North Portland area.
The 33-year-old man was confirmed dead shortly before 4 p.m. on Oct. 7. Detectives with the Gang Enforcement Unit were assigned to the case.
Portland officers went to the area of 10000 North Burr Avenue after the report of the shooting and found the man with a gunshot wound.
Neighbors told KOIN 6 News about six to eight men were heard arguing about money before the shots rang out.
George Middle School and Roosevelt High School were put on a lockdown as a precaution. Authorities said there is no reason to believe students were in any danger or involved in any way. Students remained in the building until an all-clear was given.
The lockdown was lifted for both schools by 3:45 p.m.
The investigation continues. No one is in custody by Monday evening.
