Boy killed, man wounded at Holgate Transit Center


A 15-year-old boy shot at the Holgate Transit Station overnight died early Sunday morning at a Portland hospital.

He is identified as Abukar Madey. The Medical Examiner has determined he died of a gunshot wound to the head.

The other victim, Lucio Alejandro Ramirez-Navarro, 22, remains in a. Portland hospital recovering from his injuries. Also know as Alex Ramirez, he was shot multiple times.

No suspect information was immediately released. Police say Madey and Ramirez knew each the, and that Ramirez is a know Hispanic gang member.

Detectives have not ruled out the possibility that the shooting is gang-related.

According to police, at 11:56 p.m. on Friday, Oct. 11, East Precinct officers responded to the report of a shooting at the Holgate Transit Station, located in the 9300 block of Southeast Holgate.

Officers arrived and located a male suffering from several gunshot wounds at Southeast 92nd Avenue and Holgate Boulevard. He was transported to a Portland hospital by medical personnel for treatment to traumatic injuries.

Officers checking the area for a crime scene located a second gunshot victim on the stairs leading to the MAX platform. He was suffering from a head wound and was transported to a Portland hospital with traumatic, life-threatening injuries.

The station and Southeast Holgate Boulevard were closed from 92nd to 96th Avenues as detectives and criminalists began processing the scene for evidence.
