A teenager suspected of assaulting a 70-year-old man in downtown Portland has been arrested in California.

Daniel Delbert Dorson, 18, was arrested Thursday in Humboldt County, Calif. He was booked into the Humboldt County Jail in Eureka, Calif., where he will await extradition to Oregon.

Dorson is suspected of hitting Larry Allen in the head with a skateboard on July 15. The alleged assault took place outside the Portland Outdoor Store, where Dorson works.

Witnesses told police that a large group of transient "street kids" were involved in the assault. They said the victim was hosing off the sidewalk when he was attacked.

Assault detectives followed leads in this case which have identified Dorson as the suspect with the skateboard.
