The father of a teenager who says she was raped by a man in the Lents Neighborhood personally helped police track down the suspect.
Just after 5 p.m. the 14-year-old girl told police a man grabbed her and pulled her into the side yard of a home in the 8400 block of SE 87th Avenue. He then sexually assault her, according to the report to police.
The man then fled, according to the Portland Police Bureau, and the girl ran home to tell her parents.
That's when the girl's dad went looking for the man. He eventually found a suspect who matched the suspect's description at Southeast 90th Avenue and Flavel Street. The victim positively identified the man as the suspect.
On Sunday night police arrested 21-year-old Sawsulien Bohannan. He now faces charges of Rape in the First Degree, Sex Abuse in the First Degree and Unlawful Sexual Penetration in the First Degree.
"Stranger-to-strangers sexual assaults fortunately are a rare occurrence," the bureau reported in its Sunday night news release.
Bohannan is expected in Multnomah County court Monday.
