No injuries following Thursday fire
One suspect arrested in connection with blaze
Following a Thursday-afternoon fire in which no one was injured, a man has been arrested in connection with the blaze.
According to Portland Fire and Rescue, when crews arrived at a 2.5-floor home on 5331 NE Killingsworth Street, smoke was coming from an attic window. Although early reports indicated that there may have been someone in the upstairs portion of the residence, which had been converted into an adult care home. Firefighters only found a room and its contents ablaze and no victims.
Portland Police officers arrived and apprehended a suspect. Fire investigators have indicated that the person is connected to the fire and was being arrested for arson. The suspect was a resident of the home.
No injuries were reported to occupants, pets, or firefighters despite an adult female and her adult son living in the basement of the residence at the time of the blaze.
