A man was struck by a car and killed on Interstate 5 near the Rose Quarter late Tuesday night.

The name of the victim was not released. The driver, whose name also was not released, stayed at the scene and cooperated with investigators.

According to Portland police, at 11:58 p.m. on Tuesday, Nov. 12, North Precinct officers responded to the report of a pedestrian struck on I-5 southbound at the Rose Quarter. Officers and medical personnel found a man dead at the scene.

The Traffic Division's Major Crash Team is investigating the incident. Southbound traffic near the Rose Quarter was closed for several hours during the investigation.
