Former Ducks football player passes up drug treatment program
As of Wednesday's hearing in Lane County Drug Court, former Oregon Ducks tight end Colt Lyerla from Hillsboro appears headed for possible trial or settlement relating to his Oct. 23 arrest in Eugene.
Lane Country Circuit Court Judge Suzanne Chanti denied a request from Lyerla's lawyer, Stephen Houze, for a two-week extension, and Lyerla reportedly decided to opt out of a drug treatment program.
Lyerla, who has left the Oregon football team, is scheduled to return to court for another hearing on Dec. 5, and a settlement or trial date would likely be discussed. He is charged with possession of cocaine and interfering with a police officer.
