Fireworks cause New year's Even house fire
Fireworks caused a fire that damaged a Southeat Portland home on New year's Eve.
According to Portland Fire & Rescue, at 12:29 a.m. on Jan. 1, crews responded to a residential fire at 3564 S.E. Insley St. Engine 25 from the Woodstock station arrived and found light smoke coming from the back of the property.
Crews stretched hose lines to the back of the structure and extinguished fire on the outside of a detached garage. At the same time, fiefighters assured that everyone was out of the house and that the fire had not extended inside.
The fire was brought under control at 12:43 am and fire crews remained on scene mopping up. The premliminary investigation determined that fireworks were the cause of this fire. There was no immediate damage estimate.
