Man arrested after Sunday morning shooting
UPDATE • Victim taken to a local hospital for surgery
A 56-year-old Portland man is in custody following a shooting Sunday morning in Southeast Portland that wounded a 36-year-old man.
Police said Edward Benjamin Franklin, 56, was arrested after the shooting and charged with attempted murder, first-degree assault and unlawful use of a weapon. He is being held in the Multnomah County Jail.
On Monday evening, detectives said the victim, Bobby Dean Johnston, was recovering at an area hospital.
According to police, at 10 a.m. on Sunday, East Precinct officers responded to a report of a man shot three times at a residence in the 11800 block of Southeast Bush Street. He was taken to a local hospital, where underwent surgery for his injury. His condition was not released.
Police said it was not a random shooting.
