TriMet schedules southwest service forums

TriMet has scheduled a series of forums to help determine potential transit improvements in the Southwest Corridor that runs through Southwest Portland, Tigard, Tualatin, King City, Sherwood, Durham, Lake Oswego and West Linn.

The improvements could be in addition to the possible high-capacity transit line currently being considered by Metro and 13 local partners through the Southwest Corridor Plan.

As part of that plan, TriMet is taking a fresh look at bus service in the corridor as it develops the Southwest Service Enhancement Plan. The forums are intended to solicit community input on short-term improvements and the long-term vision for bus service in the area.

The schedule is as follows:

• Thursday, Jan. 9, 6:30-8:30 p.m., West End Building, Santiam Room, 4101 SW Kruse Way, Lake Oswego.

• Wednesday, Jan. 15, 6:30-8:30 p.m., Bolton Fire Station #58, 6050 SW Failing St., West Linn (Line 35-Macadam/Greeley).

• Thursday, Jan. 16, 6:30-8:30 p.m., City Council Chambers, 22560 SW Pine St., Sherwood (Line 93-Tigard/Sherwood).

• Thursday, Jan. 23, 6:30-8:30 p.m., Multnomah Arts Center Auditorium, 7688 SW Capitol Highway, Portland (Lines 44-Capitol Hwy/Mocks Crest and 45-Garden Home).

• Thursday, Feb. 13, 6:30-8:30 p.m., Tualatin Public Library, 18878 SW Martinazzi Ave., Tualatin (Line 76-Beaverton/Tualatin).

According to TriMet, the Southwest Corridor Plan is a comprehensive approach to achieving community visions through integrated land use and transportation planning. The plan incorporates existing local land use visions, such as the Barbur Concept Plan, the Tigard High Capacity Transit Land Use Plan, linking Tualatin and the Sherwood Town Center Plan.
