by: PORTLAND FIRE & RESCUE - Bob the rescued cat and happy owners.Portland firefighters rescued Bob, a cat, from a storm drain in Southwest Portland on Sunday afternoon.

Bob went missing Satruday. The owners spent much of the morning searching for the missing feline. They eventually heard a faint meow coming from a storm drain near Southwest 2nd Avenue and Ruby Terrace.

Stuck below the 80-pound grate, Bob trapped and scared, but otherwise unhurt. Even with the help of neighbors, the owners were unable to remove the heavy grate.

One of the owners walked to the neighborhood fire station in Burlingame and found the crew inside and eager to help. Using pry bars and other hand tools, firefighters from Station 10 were able to remove the drain cover and began calling for the cat.

After a couple of minutes Bob backed out of a drain pipe, but wasn't quite sure of her rescuers. Once her owner knelt beside the open drain, the cat crawled into arms with no delay.
