Woman assaulted in Portland park
A 22-year-old woman was sexually assaulted Tuesday night in Northeast Portland by a stranger in his 20s, police said in a release Friday afternoon.
The woman said she was walking on NE 36th Avenue around 7 p.m., near Grant High School, when a driver stopped his SUV. She said he got out, grabbed her, slammed her face into the truck, then dragged her and sexually assaulted her in the north end of Grant Park.
She said he ran away after that.
She then walked back to her house and calle 911, then went to the hospital for treatment. Police began their investigation about 8:30 p.m.
The woman described the man as light- or tan-skinned, about 5-feet-7 with large dark eyebrows and a thin scar from his upper lip to his cheek. He was unshaven, wore baggy blue jeans and a baseball hat.
He was driving a white or light-colored Chevy Tahoe or Blazer, she said.
