A portion of Northwest Cornell Road was closed because of a landslide early Friday morning.

According to Portland police, the slide happened between the tunnels on the road in Northwest Portland around 4:34 a.m. Feb. 14.

Both lanes were partially blocked by the slide, prompting police to close it completely. There was no immediately estimate on when it will reopen.

Commuters are urged to avoid the roads because the closure is likely will be lenghty. City of Portland crews have been called to the scene to assess the rock slide and begin clean-up efforts.
