A flood watch has been issued for the Portland region and the rest of the western part of the state through Monday.
A soaking rain is expected to drench the I-5 Corridor on Saturday, bringing as much as 3 inches of rain locally and more in the higher spots. Heavier rains are forecast for Sunday.
The flood watch continues for all of Portland south to Medford, and from the west slopes of the Cascades all the way to the coast through Sunday. There is the possibility the flood watch will be extended into Monday.
The flood watch means conditions are good for flooding but it is not certain.
Winds will accompany the all-day Saturday rain. Heavy rain is also expected on Sunday into Monday.
The snow level in the Cascades will drop to 3500 feet (just below the passes) by Saturday night. Snow will be heavy at times and the winds may gust to 40 mph. Over the next three daya, Mount Hood may get as much as 3 feet of snow.
