Police detain man in suspicious Pearl District death
UPDATE • Early morning disturbance leads to discovery of body in an apartment
Portland police have detained a 21-year-old man Friday in connection with an early morning suspicious death in a Pearl District apartment building.
Police said Charles Joseph Lake was being held in the Multnomah County Jail on one count of aggravated murder and one count of unlawful use of a weapon.
Lake will be arraigned on Monday in Multnomah County Circuit Court.
Police have not released the name of the man who died.
According to police, officers from the Central Precinct were called to a disturbance at about 3:15 a.m. at the Station Place Tower, 1020 N.W. Ninth Ave. Officers talked with residents and discovered the deceased 64-year-old man when they checked his apartment.
Homicide detectives and Oregon State Police are processing the crime scene.
The 14-story, 176-unit Station Place Tower is an affordable housing building in the Pearl District.
No other information about the investigation was released.
