Pedestrian dies after early morning accident
UPDATE • Police say 23-year-old driver is cooperating with the investigation
A 33-year-old man struck by a vehicle early Friday morning on Southeast Cesar E. Chavez Boulevard died Friday afternoon.
Portland police said Clay Everett Smith died at an area hospital. Smith suffered traumatic injuries when he was struck near Cesar E. Chavez and Powell boulevards.
Police responded to a report of the accident at 2:47 a.m. and found Smith lying in the street with serious injuries. Police said the 23-year-old driver of the vehicle was cooperating in the investigation.
No arrests have been made in the incident.
