Car thief arrested twice in one week
Portland police are calling him the unlucky car thief.
At 12:38 a.m. Saturday, a Traffic Divsion officer arrested Jared Allen Jones, 23, on several charges after he attempted to elude officers in a stolen car in the area of Southeast 123rd Avenue and Division Street.
Jones attempted to speed away from the officer, who quickly used a Pursuit Intervention Technique (PIT) maneuver to spin the the stolen car causing it to stop.
It was the second time Jones was arrested in six days. He was also arrested on March 11 in a stolen car that flipped and crashed while be was attempting to elude officers.
Jones was booked into the Multnomah County Jail on charges of unlawful use of a motor vehicle, attempt to elude, possession of a stolen motor vehicle, reckless driving, driving while revoked, and reckless endangerment. His bail was set at $22,500.
