Man stabbed by machete in fight
Police have arrested a man for stabbing another man with a machete on Saturday.
The names of the suspect and victim were not immediately released. The victim is hospitalized with a non-life threatening injuries.
According to police, at 7:57 p.m. on March 15, Central Precinct officers responded to Colonel Summers Park, located at Southeast 19th Avenue and Taylor Street, on the report that a man had been stabbed by another man who was armed with a machete.
Officers and medical personnel arrived and located the male adult, victim who was suffering from an apparent non-life-threatening stab wound. The victim has been transported to a Portland hospital for treatment.
The male adult suspect was also located in the park and was taken into custody without incident. A machete, approximately 22" in length, was seized as evidence.
Preliminary information indicates that the men, both transients, got into an argument which escalated into the stabbing.
Detectives assigned to the Assault Detail and criminalists from the Forensic Evidence Division responded to process the crime scene.
