A police chase ended in a crash and neighborhood search in Northeast Portland Tuesday night.

Andre Jarae Poston, 23, was charged with Robbery in the Third Degree, Assault in the Fourth Degree, Interfering with a Peace Officer, and Disorderly Conduct in the Second Degree.

A second suspect is still at large.

The incident began at 8:40 p.m. on Tuesday March 25, when North Precinct officers responded to the Lloyd Center Macys store on the report that Loss Prevention Officers were struggling with a shoplifter who dropped a gun during the struggle.

Before the officers arrived, additional information was broadcast that the suspect, an African American male, and an associate ran out of the store after the associate grabbed the gun.

A possible vehicle description was given to police and officers assigned to the Gang Enforcement Team spotted the vehicle at Northeast 7th Avenue and Prescott Street. As the officers turned around to stop the car, the driver and passenger jumped out of the car and ran away into the neighborhood.

One person was detained after being located by officers during a neighborhood search.
