A 19-year-old man was wounded in what Portland police are saying with the 29th gang-related shooting of the year.
At this point last year, police had only recorded 16 gang-related shootings.
Manuel Rojas-Salinas was shot Thursday evening and is in fair condition at an area hospital.
According to police, around 7 p.m., the victim was arguing with other people and someone fired shots, striking the victim once in the abdomen. He ran to Northeast Alberta Street and Grand Avenue, where officers found him. A witness told police that the shooter may have been in an apartment at Northeast Martin Luther King Jr. Boulevard and Going Street, so police blocked the area and contacted several people at the apartment building. No arrests were made.
The shooting is being investigated by the city's Gang Enforcement Team.
