A man died after crashing his car into a power police alone the MAX line in North Portland early Sunday morning.

The victim has been identified as Lamar Jaray Hart, 30. Investigators say he was driving a 2007 Ford Five Hundred sedan at a high rate of speed northbound on Interstate Avenue when he lost control and crashed into a power pole.

According to police, at 2:03 a.m. on March 30, North Precinct officers responded to the report of a single vehicle crash at North Interstate Avenue and Tillamook Street.

Officers and medical personnel responded and located the vehicle crashed into a power pole along the MAX line. The driver and lone occupant, an adult male, was deceased.

The Traffic Division's Major Crash Team responded to conduct an investigation.

Crews worked to free the vehicle from the power pole and clear up the MAX line before service began morning.

The Oregon State Medical Examiner is awaiting toxicology reports to determine if drugs and/or alcohol were a factor in the crash.
