Stabbing suspect surrenders after Happy Valley standoff
Clackamas County deputies responded to the deadly stabbing of 21-year-old Portlander Marcos Fielder at a party at about 11:52 p.m. Sunday in the Easton Ridge apartment complex, 9009 S.E. Causey Ave., just west of Happy Valley.
SWAT officers took up positions outside the apartment during the standoff before the suspect, George Gardea, 24, of Portland, surrendered Monday morning at about 6 a.m.
Clackamas County's medical examiner confirmed the cause of Fielder's death as homicide from "multiple sharp force injuries." Gardea is in the Clackamas County Jail without bail on charges of murder, first-degree assault and unlawful use of a weapon. The victim and suspect reportedly met at the party.
