Police make move on suspected car theft ring
Several people were taken into custody Tuesday in what police are calling a large-scale stolen property sting in north Portland.
Police cars converged on the scene of West Coast Car Crushing, located in the 9100 block of North Columbia Boulevard, on the morning of April 8 as part of an ongoing auto theft investigation.
The investigation, conducted by the Portland Police Bureau and Oregon State Police, also led law enforcement to serve warrants at two other Portland-area locations Tuesday.
A source close to the investigation told KOIN 6 News Tuesday said stolen property typically vehicles were being turned into scrap metal at the car crushing facilities.
Most of the stolen property originated from St. Johns area of North Portland, the source said.
