Police arrest shooting suspect


by: MULTNOMAH COUNTY SHERIFF'S OFFICE - Nathan Steven NewittPolice have arrested a suspect in an early Monday morning shooting.

Nathan Steven Newitt, 41, was booked into the Multnomah County Jail on charges of Assault in the Second Degree and Unlawful Use of a Weapon.

Police have identified the victim Jason Reed Jacoby, 42. He suffered a non-life threatening gunshot would to a leg this morning after getting into an argument with the suspect. The victim and suspect lived together.

According to police, at 4:18 a.m. on April 14, East Precinct police officers responded to an area hospital on a report that a shooting victim had been dropped off at the location with a non-life threatening wounds. Officers responded and were able to determine a possible crime scene location in North Precinct and get the name of a potential suspect.

North Precinct officers responded to he location in the 3300 block of N.E. 127th Avenue. After they arrived, the officers located and detained a possible suspect.

Detectives are still investigating this incident.
