Downtown Portland visitors are used to seeing a lot of strange sights, from protesters dressed an animals to performance artists to drummers beating plastic buckets.
But the sight of a naked man playing a violin outside the U.S. Courthouse at Southwest 3rd Avenue and Salmon Street proved a little too much on Friday.
According to police, several people called to complain about the musician in the buff on May 23.
Multiple officers, a sergeant and a lieutenant warned Matthew Thomas Mglej, 20, that he was in violation of City Code and would be arrested if he did not put on some clothes. Mglej did not respond and was arrested for indecent exposure.
Section 14A.40.030 of the City Code clearly states, "It is unlawful for any person to expose his or her genitalia while in a public place or place visible from a public place, if the public place is open or available to persons of the opposite sex."
Police are not sure if Mglej is his real name.
