Man arrested for throwing rock at police car
Police have arrested a man for throwing a rock at a police car early Wednesday morning.
Milo Thomas Leon, 25, is charged with Reckless Endangerment, Criminal Mischief in the Second Degree and Attempted Possession of Methamphetamine.
The officer in the car was not injured.
The incident was the second time in three days that someone threw a rock at a passing patrol car. An officer was treated for a forehead cut in the first incident, which occurred early Sunday at Southeast 87th Avenue and Clinton Street.
No suspect was identified or arrest in the June 1 incident.
According to police, the June 4 incident began at 2:43 a.m. when East Precinct officers responded to the 2600 block of Southeast 115th Avenue on the report of a man standing in the street throwing things around and pacing back and forth. The caller reported that the man appeared to be on "drugs or something."
Police say that as a sergeant arrived in the area, the suspect threw a piece of granite at the police car, cracking the windshield. The sergeant was not injured and the suspect, later identified as Leon, was taken into custody. He appeared to be under the influence of alcohol.
That case remains under investigation and it was not immediately known if Leon was involved in the earlier incident.
