Man struck by train on bridge dies


An 18-year-old man was killed late Friday night when he was struck by an eastbound freight train on a rail bridge south of the St. Johns Bridge and knocked into the Willamette River.

The man’s name has not been released.

Central precinct officers were called at about 11:13 p.m. Friday, June 6, to the 7100 block of Northwest Front Avenue, where they found the man and pulled him from the water. Officers performed CPR but were unable to revive the man.

An autopsy will be done to determine the cause of death and confirm the man's identity.
