Bomb scare at Clackamas Town Center resolved quickly

by: CLACKAMAS SHERIFFS OFFICE - A suspicious object at the Clackamas Town Center was investigated without incident. Clackamas County sheriff's deputies responded Friday afternoon to a report of a suspicious object in the trash at Clackamas Town Center.

Deputies gave the all-clear at 4 p.m.

"Clackamas Town Center situation is resolved without any problems and working to get all areas accessible," according to a sheriff's office tweet.

Deputies reported that at about 2:30 p.m., a mall patron spotted something suspicious in a trash can. Mall security alerted sheriff's deputies and began clearing people from the building.

The Metropolitan Explosive Disposal Unit checked the device, "rendered it safe" and determined it was not a hazard.

TriMet had temporarily rerouted bus service away from the stops in front of the movie theater entrance to the mall. Normal service was restored soon after the incident was resolved.
